🇰🇷 South Korea visa checklist

You need a visa to visit mainland South Korea. Tourists apply for the Short-Term Visit Tourist visa (C-3-9) at the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in BGC, Taguig. You can go in person, use an embassy-designated travel agency, or send it by W Express mail. The embassy visa fee is free for stays of 59 days or less (₱2,000 for 60 to 90 days), plus a ₱1,000 KVAC service fee. Processing takes 14 working days as of November 3, 2026.

Full details on timing and validity

Processing: 14 working days for short-term (C-3) visas, starting November 3, 2026 (up from 12). It has changed often in 2025-2026, from as short as 10 working days (June 2026) to as long as 20 (March to May 2026), so check the latest embassy or KVAC notice before you apply. Express takes 5 working days but usually isn't open to tourists. If the embassy asks for more documents, the processing time can be recounted. KVAC texts you when your result is ready.

Validity and stay: The single-entry C-3-9 visa is valid for 3 months from the issue date, so you must enter Korea within that time. The longest you can stay on a C-3 short-term visit is 90 days. Your actual allowed stay is set by the embassy and shown on your Visa Grant Notice, and the fee depends on it (59 days or less, or 60 to 90 days). If your visa expires while you're in Korea, that's fine, as long as you stay within the days you were given.

You might not need a visa

Step by step

  1. Check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay and is signed. If you're 13 or older, sign page 3. Leave it blank for children 12 and under.
  2. Download the C-3-9 checklist (updated August 6, 2026) and Visa Application Form No. 17 from the embassy's Visa Requirements page. Print the form single-sided: it's 5 pages, and KVAC won't accept back-to-back printing.
  3. Gather the documents for your situation (employed, self-employed, student, sponsored, etc.). Bring originals where the checklist says original. COEs and bank certificates must be issued within the last 3 months.
  4. Choose how to apply. (a) In person at KVAC, 9/F (zone 2) Brittany Hotel, 6 McKinley Parkway, BGC, Taguig, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. You can reserve ahead at visaforkorea-mn.com. (b) Through one of the embassy's 55 designated travel agencies (list dated Sept 29, 2026). (c) By mail through W Express only, for Filipino C-3-9 tourist applications, from anywhere in the Philippines. Groups of 3 or more regular tourists can also get an e-Group visa through a designated agency.
  5. Pay at KVAC: the ₱1,000 KVAC service fee (cash only), plus the ₱2,000 embassy visa fee if your stay is 60 to 90 days. Fees aren't refundable.
  6. Wait for the text. KVAC sends free SMS updates when your application is received and when it's done. If the embassy asks for more documents, the processing time can start over.
  7. Pick up your passport at KVAC (individuals 1:00 to 5:00 PM) the working day after the SMS, or pay for W Express delivery.
  8. Get your visa: since January 26, 2026 it's a digital Visa Grant Notice. Go to visa.go.kr > Check Application Status > Check Application Status and Print, choose Diplomatic Office, and enter your passport number, English name (Last name, First name, Second name; no middle name) and date of birth. Print it and check every detail against your passport. If anything is wrong, email kvacph@visaforkorea-mn.com.
  9. Before you fly, fill in the free Korean e-Arrival Card at e-arrivalcard.go.kr, up to 3 days before you arrive. Foreign visitors have needed it since February 24, 2025.
